Honeyville’s Dried Whole Eggs are produced exclusively from fresh eggs harvested from chickens in the United States. The eggs are spray dried and pasteurized in the USA for optimal quality and safety. Honeyville’s Powdered Whole Eggs are produced though a special process designed to provide a free flowing powder that has been pasteurized for your safety. Originally developed for use in the military, our whole egg powder, when blended with water, reconstitutes into a product similar to fresh whipped eggs. These reconstituted eggs may then be used as a direct substitute for fresh eggs. One 2.25 pound can of Powdered Whole Eggs is equivalent to 85 Fresh Whole Eggs. Our whole egg powder requires no refrigeration and is ideal for camping, travel, and long-term food storage. This product may be stored for up to 12 months opened, and 5 to 10 years in airtight sealed cans.

If you don’t know how to find survival food outdoors, you are in for a rude shock. It is vital to know how to stay alive when you don’t have prepared food and water to support you. Food is the third most important thing after shelter and water. Making the best of all the food that nature has provided is the best that you can do in any situation.

To be fair, there are many plants and wild animals which you can hunt and satiate your hunger with. But you should know the tricks of finding the right kind of plants and the best technique for hunting wild animals. Fish is also an option if there are creeks in the place where you have to fend for yourself.

Learning To Trap Animals

Since you may not have firearms to assist you in hunting, and you may not be adept in hunting for wild animals using knives and ropes, it is necessary to know how to arrange snares and traps. Snares have the distinct advantage of being used at any time of the day and in any weather. You just need to lay the traps sometime in the day and you will keep getting the results throughout the day.

Site selection is important as you should know the places where the animals frequent so that you have a higher chance of ensnaring them. You can even use bait if you already have a catch. If you can learn how to find survival food, then you will have no trouble surviving outdoors.

Recognizing edible plants

It pays to be prepared beforehand and prepare survival kits. This may include survival food storage too. At the same time, you should have the ability to recognize the plants which are not poisonous in any way.

It is much better to live without food for some days than to fall ill or even die by eating poisonous plants. There are certain plants which should not be eaten at any cost.
O Mushrooms or fungi

O Plants with flowers like umbrellas

O Beans and peas

O Bulbs and lichen

O White and yellow berries

O Plants with shiny leaves or with milky sap

O Wild nuts, fruits and berries

You should only eat plants and fruits you are familiar with.

Insects To the Rescue

When you have exhausted what you had in your survival food storage, you have no option but to consider eating even insects. But even then, you must know which insects to eat and which to avoid. It is better to avoid brightly colored, fuzzy and hairy insects.

You should also not eat insects which bite and sting. Worms and grub are the best options together with a good quantity of ants. Grasshoppers and cricket are also good provided they are fresh and healthy. But do remove the wings and legs before eating.

Baiting Fish

The time just after sunrise and a bit before sunset is ideal for fishing. When you are outdoors and striving for continued existence then you can locate deep still pools and undercut banks. You are likely to get bass in the lakes. The areas around the plant life in the watery regions will give you plenty of fish. You can hunt for catfish too but they are generally found in salt water areas. You can entice them with bait like bubblegum rolled in meat juices. If you search near underwater vegetation, you are likely to find some bluegill too.

Preserve And Cook Food

After getting the animals and fish, you have to clean them first and wash them before eating them. You can save the parts which are not edible to be used as bait. You can even opt for survival food storage by drying the meat, freezing them or preserving them with a brine solution. To cook meat, you can smoke them over a fire pit. And now that you know how to find survival food outdoor, you will be able to live and get back to civilization, no matter what the odds are against you.

In today’s unstable economy and with threats like climate change and eco-terrorism American families need to have survival food storage, emergency preparedness and 72-hour kits. In the event of a disaster whether it is natural or man-made, local emergency people will be facing the same problems as the rest of us. It may take time three days, 72 hours or even longer for them to come to your assistance. In some circumstances you may find yourself on your own for much longer.
r
rDo not be fooled, we as Americans take for granted the food supply in America. Studies have shown that a typical grocery store has less than one week of food in supply if their supply chains are broke. The average American family has even less. If there is a major problem do you want to have to depend on these places?
r
rVery simply put survival food storage is being prepared. A major part of emergency preparedness is having food storage and I am going to stress the need to be prepared to survive for at least 72 hours, but being prepared for longer is a very good idea to consider as well. In the event of a widespread problem normal food supplies will be depleted quickly and you will be one step ahead to have your own survival food storage.
r
rThe problem might not be a disaster; in this troubled economy no one has job security anymore. There are many of us who do not know if we will have a job in the coming weeks or even tomorrow. There is the possibility that there will not be an attack, a major disaster or a catastrophe but what if you lose your job or suddenly have to re-locate. Having survival food storage could work just as well to get you through a few days when money is tight. Not having to worry about buying food could make a huge difference and let you focus on getting back to providing for your family.
r
rThe bottom line is to be prepared. There are many reasons that the normal food supply chain could be interrupted and cause mass hysteria across the country. From a massive power grid failure to a true fuel crisis food supplies are vulnerable to being completely shut down.
r
rHere are some food storage tips that are simple and easy to get started.
r
rAlways keep a larger than normal supply of the basics like simple grains, dehydrated milk, sugar, salt, oil, flour, garden seeds and storable produce like potatoes, onions, beets, cabbage, etc.
r
rKeep food stored that your family is accustomed too and that you know how to cook. You will want to keep items that need to be replaced for freshness and it will take some work keeping them up. There are also options to have dry food storage that is made specifically for long periods of storage. If you are on a tight budget like most Americans there are pre-packaged kits and you can buy the items one at time.
r
rShopping at wholesale markets can save you a considerable amount of money on such things as salt, flour, oil and sugar. You might have to buy a larger container than you are used to, but having more will not hurt you.
r
rProtect stored food from rodent and insect infestation by storing it in large containers. Metal containers like coffee containers and tins are the preferred method. You can find containers at places like thrift stores.
r
rHaving survival food storage will give you piece of mind. In the case of an emergency relying on yourself is going to be your best bet so be prepared.

Getting your 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day has never been easier. Honeyville’s Freeze Dried Fruits have no sugar added. In fact our Freeze Dried Fruits are additive free, natural fruit. Honeyville’s Freeze Dried Apples are produced in a process where moisture is removed from the product using a very low temperature and a vacuum. Only about 3 percent moisture remains in the product at the time of packaging. The end product weight is reduced by over 90 percent, while the volume stays the same. This remarkable process concentrates the fresh product taste, natural color, and texture of fresh product in it’s freeze dried state. When re-hydrated with water the product will maintain the texture and shape of fresh product, with no shrinking or shriveling. Freeze Dried and Dehydrated products are less expensive than wet pack food because you are not paying for all the water. The taste is great, and the nutritional food value is excellent.
Alfalfa sprouts are what people typically think of when you mention sprouts. They are the ones you commonly see at a salad bar. Rich in phytochemicals, they protect against cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis and fibrocystic breast disease. They stimulate natural killer cell activity, which strengthens the immune system.

What’s more, they are beneficial in reducing symptoms of PMS and menopause, including hot flashes. Furthermore, they contain high concentrations of antioxidants, the body’s defense against the destruction of DNA which is the cause of aging. Alfalfa sprouts are abundant sources of vitamins A, B, C, E and K, the minerals calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc. Also carotene, chlorophyll, amino acids and trace elements. They contain 35% protein.
